Event types
Creating an event type
Go to Dashboard → Event types → New. The form is split into tabs:
- Details — title, URL slug, description, duration, color.
- Scheduling — buffers before/after, minimum notice, maximum advance window, slot interval, daily booking limit.
- Location & video — in-person address, phone, custom, or auto-create a video meeting.
- Reminders — email + SMS reminder offsets, with sensible defaults.
- Payments — collect a fee at booking, currency, payment timing.
- Emails — override the system email templates per event type.
Duration & buffers
Pick a duration (15, 30, 45, 60 minutes — or any custom value). Add buffer minutes before or after to give yourself transition time between back-to-back bookings.
By default, slots step by the event duration. If you want narrower steps (say, 30-min appointments offered every 15 minutes), set a custom slot interval.
Notice & advance windows
- Minimum notice— how soon someone can book a slot. Defaults to 60 minutes so you don't get a booking for 15 minutes from now.
- Maximum advance — how far in the future bookings are allowed. Default is 60 days.
- Daily booking limit— cap how many of this event type can be booked in one day (e.g. "max 4 deep-work sessions per day").
Location
Choose one of:
- In person — paste your address. Shown in confirmation emails.
- Phone— Bookify shares the booker's phone with you (you call them, not vice versa).
- Custom video link — a static link you paste once and reuse.
- Auto-create video meeting — Google Meet, Zoom, or Microsoft Teams. See Video meetings for the prerequisites and limitations per provider.
Pricing
Optional. Set an amount + currency and the booking page collects payment at booking time via Stripe or PayPal. Payment is required before the slot is confirmed.
Available on Start and Pro. Free organizations can build paid event types but the public booking page won't collect money until they upgrade.
Reminders
You can fire multiple reminders per event type — typical defaults are 24 hours before and 2 hours before. Reminders go out by email always; SMS reminders require credits (see SMS credits).
The default SMS reminder template is intentionally short so it fits inside a single 160-character message — you only pay for one SMS per send.
Hidden event types
Toggle "Hidden" on the Details tab. The slug still works for direct deep links, but the event type doesn't appear on your public seat page. Useful for private clients or VIP slots.
What changes affect existing bookings
Editing an event type doesn't reach back and modify existing bookings. The new settings apply to bookings created from that moment on.
