SMS credits

SMS reminders work worldwide, but text messages have real-world per-country costs. Bookify uses a simple credit system — each SMS deducts a number of credits depending on where it lands.

Two kinds of credits

  • Included credits — granted automatically with paid plans. Reset at the start of each billing cycle.
    • Free: 0 credits per seat per month
    • Start: 100 credits per seat per month
    • Pro: 300 credits per seat per month
Included credits do not roll over.
  • Purchased credits — bought as one-time packs. Never expire and stay with your organization through plan changes.

When we send an SMS, we deduct from included credits first, then fall back to purchased. So you never "waste" your purchased pack if you have a monthly allowance.

Why per-country pricing

Telecom carriers charge different rates per destination country — sending to Germany costs roughly 2× sending to the US. We pass that through with a small margin (about 40%) and charge in credits, not currency, so the math stays predictable.

The full per-country credit table is on the pricing page. A few highlights:

CountryCredits per SMS

We detect the destination country by parsing the booker's phone number, so make sure phone numbers are entered with a country code on the booking form.

Buying credit packs

From Dashboard → Billing → SMS credits:

One-time payment via Creem. Credits land in your account within a few seconds of payment success.

Default SMS template

The default reminder template is tuned to fit inside a single 160-character SMS segment after variable substitution. If your custom template balloons past 160 characters, the message splits into multiple segments and we charge per segment.

What happens if you run out of credits

If a reminder fires and you don't have enough credits, the SMS isn't sent. The booking proceeds normally and we keep sending email reminders (which never consume credits). You'll see a notice on the dashboard and get a low-balance email.

Disabling SMS reminders

On any event type, leave the SMS reminders section empty. We'll only send email reminders for that event type, regardless of your credit balance.

Why we pass through carrier cost

Some platforms hide the per-country cost variance inside a flat seat price. We don't — partly because the cost variance is huge (sending to Bulgaria costs 3× as much as sending to the US), and partly because hiding it would force everyone to subsidize international senders. The credit model keeps it transparent.
